Distance, Depth and Puncture Angle for Cisterna Magna in Chinese Adults as Read from Magnetic Resonance Imaging

چکیده
IntroductIon The cisterna magna is a space lying between the cerebellum and medulla oblongata that is important in collecting cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) in some patients with contraindication or the impossibility of lumbar puncture and in intrathecal administration medication infusion.[1,2] Knowledge of the anatomy of the cisterna magna, especially the key distance from skin to cisterna magna is necessary in safely performing cisternal puncture. Until now, specific anatomical measurements in vivo have not been reported in the medical literature. To provide this necessary reference information, we analyzed the depth from the skin to cisterna magna, the direction and site of cistern puncture in Chinese adult patients.

Ultrasound guided double injection of blood into cisterna magna: a rabbit model for treatment of cerebral vasospasm.
BACKGROUND Double injection of blood into cisterna magna using a rabbit model results in cerebral vasospasm. An unacceptably high mortality rate tends to limit the application of model. Ultrasound guided puncture can provide real-time imaging guidance for operation. The aim of this paper is to establish a safe and effective rabbit model of cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage with t...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to show the normal sonographic embryologic anatomy of the cisterna magna septa, fourth ventricle, and cerebellar vallecula at various stages of development and our experience with their variable appearance in multiple planes and to discuss the probable relationship between the cisterna magna septa, Dandy-Walker continuum, mega cisterna magna, and persiste...
متن کاملThe distance from skin to cervical and high thoracic epidural space on chinese adults as read from MRI.
BACKGROUND A few studies on the depth from the skin to the cervical epidural space (DSES) have been reported from the United States, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. There are no published reports from mainland China. OBJECTIVES The goal of this study was to collect standard data on Chinese adults from mainland China in a large medical center with a wide geographical range of patients. STUDY...
متن کاملImpacted cisterna magna without syringomyelia associated with spastic paraparesis: case report.
We report on a 49 year old man with impacted cisterna magna without the presence of syringohydromyelie (SM). The clinical picture was characterized by spastic paraparesis. Magnetic resonance imaging depicted a cisterna magna filled by the cerebellar tonsils. Six months after osteodural-neural decompression of the posterior fossa there was resolution of neurological symptoms and signs with the e...
متن کاملFabrication of New 3D Phantom for Measuring Geometric Distortion in Magnetic Resonance Imaging System
Introduction: Geometric distortion is a major shortcoming of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which has an important influence on the accuracy of volumetric measurements, an important parameter in neurology and oncology. Our goal is to design and construct a new three- dimensional phantom using a 3D printer in order to measure geometric distortion and its reproducibility in...
